Fibaro Walli Dimmer
- Z-Wave
Verified September 2026
The dimming counterpart to the Walli Switch: a complete finished switch you fit in place of your existing one, not a module hidden behind it — expect to pay more than the £53-55 Dimmer 2 module already reviewed here for that finished-switch convenience, and factor in a compatible cover plate (Fibaro's own, or GIRA/Legrand/Schneider ranges). It only needs a shallower ~40mm back box against the Dimmer 2's 60mm, and like the Dimmer 2 it's no-neutral capable with a Bypass 2 module for low-wattage LEDs. Check bulbs are dimmable and trailing-edge compatible before fitting.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Light | Light | 1-99 dim range; bounded by configurable min/max dim level parameters to keep cheap LED drivers out of their flicker/dead zones. |
| Calibration | Select + diagnostic sensor | Force-calibration trigger (with or without Fibaro Bypass 2) plus a read-only calibration-status parameter — the practical check for whether a given LED load actually calibrated on this finished unit. |
| Dimmer mode | Select + diagnostic sensor | Force leading-edge / force trailing-edge / auto-detect, plus a read-only detected-result parameter — override when auto-detect misreads a trailing-edge-only LED driver. |
| Rocker press events | Event | Central Scene notifications per rocker for single/double/triple press and hold-release, independent of the dimmer's on/off state — usable for scenes without touching the light entity. |
| Flicker correction | Number | Sets the brightness-correction duration for flickering loads, defaulting to automatic correction; can be set to a fixed window or disabled if a specific bulb still flickers after calibration. |
Because the Walli Dimmer is a finished unit with no accessible neutral-bypass wiring like Fibaro's Dimmer 2 module, calibration on non-dimmable-flagged or low-wattage LED loads only completes reliably with the separate Fibaro Bypass 2 fitted — a config parameter explicitly offers with/without Bypass 2 options, and a read-only calibration-status parameter reports back whether it actually took. The device also exposes a dedicated brightness-correction-duration parameter specifically for flickering loads, defaulting to automatic correction rather than a fixed timer. Both physical rockers report Central Scene events straight to HA independent of the light entity, and can additionally be wired into Z-Wave association groups for zero-latency local control of other nodes without waiting on an HA round-trip.
