The big brother to the X1i — a 6.9-inch panel that's genuinely pleasant to glance at, and the extra RAM copes better with a real dashboard than the smaller unit does. It's still fundamentally a light switch with a screen glued on: the relay talks to Home Assistant locally and instantly, but the dashboard view is a browser you configure yourself, not something the integration builds for you. Keep the layout simple — cameras and heavy animations show up the underlying tablet hardware's limits.

In Home Assistant

ControlTypeWhat it does
Relay switchSwitchThe onboard 5A/240V relay, controlling whatever light or appliance circuit is wired to it
Display media playerMedia player (firmware 2.2+)Volume/mute control for the panel's built-in speaker
Ambient lightSensorOnboard light-level sensor, usable for scene automations independent of the wired relay
Dashboard kiosk viewDevice-side browser setting, not an HA entityPoint the panel at your HA instance URL to full-screen your existing dashboard — configured on the device, not created by the integration

The shelly integration adds the relay as a local switch entity over RPC (HTTP/WebSocket), fully local with no cloud dependency. One thing worth knowing before wiring an automation to it: reviewers report the built-in temperature sensor reads 3-4°C high due to the display's own self-heating, so use a separate temperature sensor for any climate automation rather than this one. A useful automation instead: since the panel exposes a light-level sensor entity, use it to trigger an 'evening mode' scene when ambient room light drops, independent of whatever the relay itself controls.
