Drayton Wiser Thermostat Kit 1
- Zigbee
- Wi-Fi
Verified September 2026
The UK enthusiast favourite: the HeatHub exposes a local API, and the actively maintained wiserHomeAssistantPlatform HACS integration (v3.4.x) gives cloud-free control of zones, TRVs and hot water. Best-value multi-room ecosystem if you don't mind installing one custom component. Kit 1 is the entry point, not the full system: a one-channel HeatHub plus a single wireless Room Thermostat, OpenTherm module and wall bracket — no radiator TRVs included, so out of the box it's whole-home control, not room-by-room zoning. At roughly £140-£165 it undercuts Hive's Active Heating (from £149) and sits close to tado's V3+ (from £129), but Wiser only pulls ahead on value once you add Radiator Thermostats at ~£45 each to build out zones, and unlike tado there's no ongoing subscription. Best fit: combi-boiler households planning to expand zone-by-zone, not anyone needing multi-room control on day one.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Room climate | Climate entity (per room) | Target temperature and mode, aggregating every TRV in that room |
| Hot water | Water heater entity | Separate on/off control for hot water, independent of room heating |
| Room sensors | Sensor (temp/humidity/battery) | Per-room diagnostics |
The asantaga/wiserHomeAssistantPlatform HACS integration adds a climate entity per zone/TRV plus temperature, humidity, battery and signal sensors, with hot water as its own water_heater (or climate, on v2 hubs) entity — separate from room heating. That split means you can automate hot water to fire 20 minutes ahead of the first zone's scheduled heat, against the HeatHub's local API rather than cloud polling. Requires HA 2025.5+; v2 hubs on firmware below 4.42.23 can't connect over HTTPS.
